I WILL USE LESS LIGHT 2010

On Friday 12^th February, in a completely new way, the celebration of the sixth edition of “I will use less Light” will take place: the day of energy saving launched by the popular radio programme Caterpillar, on air on RAI Radio 2. After the success of the previous editions, with the support of thousands listeners and entire towns both in Italy and abroad, this year the invitation to respect a symbolic “energetic silence” will turn into an invitation to participate in a Clean Energy Party.

During the past years, thanks to the support of Institutions, schools, associations, enterprises and private citizens, we contributed to the spread of a higher awareness about the consequences of an indiscriminate energy consumption: the reduction of waste and the attention to alternative sources(of energy) have become familiar watchwords to our listeners. In the wake of this new sensibility it is the right moment to take a step forward with regard to the symbolic switching off in the name of energy saving and to propose a virtuous switching on dedicated to the development of renewable energies.

In these years we learned how to save energy, now we have to learn how to produce energy in a better way and how to demand clean energy.

At this stage of technological research it is already possible to produce energy by the sun, the wind, the sea, the earth heat and by biomasses. Appealing to the inexhaustible Italian genius we invite everyone, from the students to unstable workers, from the enterprises in a critical position to local administrations, to adopt green economy using a clean system to switch on all the lights on 12^th February 2010. The aim is double: from one hand to verify personally that the technologies available at the moment are effective and represent a realistic alternative, from the other hand to encourage renewable energies and to develop a model of sustainable economy.

In the lightless square of the whole Italy “virtuous lights”  powered by renewable energy will be turned on and creative demonstrations of smart consumption will take place to evidence the passage from an already collapsed system to a “more enlightened” management of our future.  To describe this party of clean energy, on 12^th February Caterpillar  will exceptionally be on air from Mercati Traianei in Rome, involving citizens, schools and associations in an exhibition of fine, creative and clean light, projected for the occasion, with a strictly zero impact final concert.

The campaign of I will use less Light will go on from 4^th January to 12^th February voicing the tales of the most interesting and innovative ideas to produce and  distribute energy in a clean, responsible and sustainable way. A clean energy torch will travel through Italy, as it happens for the Olympic torch, in search of renewable sources  furnishing points, until it will come to Rome and “light” the party of 12^thFebruary. VOU UTILIZAR MENOS LUZ 2010

Sexta-feira, 12 de Fevreiro 2010 celebra-se – de modo completamanente renovado – a sexta edição de “M’illumino di meno”: o dia  da poupança energética, lançado pela popular transmissão radiofónica Caterpillar em onda na RAI – Radio 2. Depois do êxito das passadas edições, com a adesão de milhares de ouvintes e de inteiras cidades, quer em Itália, quer no estrangeiro, este ano o convite para respeitar um simbólico “silêncio energético” torna-se num convite para participar numa festa da energia limpa.

Nestes últimos anos, graças ao apoio de instituições, escolas, associações, empresas e cidadãos particulares, contribuímos para a difusão duma maior consciência das consequências do consumo indiscriminado de energia: a redução das dissipações e a atenção para as fontes alternativas tornaram-se palavras de ordem para os nossos ouvintes. Na esteira desta nova sensibilidade, chegou o momento de dar um passo em frente, relativamente ao apagamento simbólico em nome da poupança e de propor uma ascensão virtuosa, de acordo com o desenvolvimento das energias renováveis. Nos últimos anos aprendemos a poupar, agora aprendemos a produzir melhor e a exigir energia limpa.

No estádio actual da pesquisa tecnológica é já possível produzir energia com o sol, o vento, o mar, o calor da terra e as biomassas. Fazendo apelo ao inesgotável génio italiano convidamos todos, desde estudantes até trabalhadores precários, desde as empresas em crise até às administrações municipais, a baterem-se pela green economy adoptando um sistema limpo para acendermos todos juntos as luzes no dia 12 de Fevreiro de 2010. O objectivo é duplo: por um lado, verificar pessoalmente que as tecnologias actualmente disponíveis representam alternativas realistas, por outro lado, dar um simbólico sinal de confiança às energias renováveis e ao desenvolvimento dum modelo de economia sustentável.

Nas escuras praças de toda Itália, vão-se acender luzes virtuosas alimentadas por energia renovável e demonstrações criativas de consumo eficiente terão lugar  para testemunhar a passagem dum sistema já em colapso a uma gestão mais “iluminada” do nosso futuro. Para descrever esta festa da energia limpa, no dia 12 de Fevreiro, Caterpillar será emitido extraordinariamente dos Mercati Traianei em Roma, envolvendo cidadãos, escolas, instituições e associações, numa exposição de luzes giras, criativas e limpas, projectadas ad hoc para a ocasião, com um concerto final rigorosamente com impacto zero.

A campanha de M’illumino di Meno  vai durar desde 4 de Janeiro até 12  de Fevreiro dando voz às ideias mais interessantes e inovativas  para produzir e distribuir a energia de maneira limpa, responsável e sustentável. Uma tocha a energia limpa vai viajar por toda a Itália, como acontece com a tocha olímpica, à procura de pontos de abastecimento de fontes renováveis até à chegada a Roma, onde vai “acender” a festa de 12 de Fevreiro.
